How do we do it? By bringing school to where it’s needed. Our first education project has been running for almost three years, allowing us to support children far beyond the classroom.

We provide every child with the essentials they need to attend school: school supplies, a backpack and a container for breakfast. We also prepare a daily meal after classes, which for many children may be their only full meal of the day.

We fund the teaching staff and resources needed to run classes. Our qualified teachers adapt their lessons to Namibia’s national curriculum and gradually introduce English, the country’s official language, as many children arrive at school speaking only their local language.

Education also begins with learning how to get along with others. From the moment children join us, we help them develop essential habits of attention, respect, listening and cooperation. These skills help them settle into school and prepare for the start of primary education. Music, physical activity and group games are an important part of this learning process.

And our work does not end in the classroom. By building close relationships with children and their families, we gain a better understanding of their circumstances and can identify other essential needs, from health concerns to difficulties accessing water or food.

In this way, we are building a support network around each school that reaches far beyond education.
